Jack Astro - Silbie Title Card
This title card was made for my student film Jack Astro which can be found on the official Jack Astro Instagram page. The socials of my team members can also be found on that page. I conceptualised the role & personality for this character but Ericka Palangan really breathed life into the character by designing her.
Fun Fact: Her full name is Silbannacuz which is shortened to Silbie by the crew.
My main aim for this piece was for it to have vibrant colours & a brushy shading style to achieve a kind of oil-paint effect. I also experimented with a line-less background to make the character stand out more.
This was the first composition sketch.

This is the sketch for the background, I decided to go line less for this one to experiment with the look of it.
The Basic colour before any shading was applied.
The shading is tri-directional. I took a cherry red coming from the right, a lavender on the left & a bright cyan coming from the top of the piece. These colours are on different layers (as seen in the screenshot) & each was set to overlay.
This is the final shading I went with.
I'm actually quite proud of how the wings looks with the shading finished.
This is an alternate colour scheme I tried out before settling on cherry-red, cyan & lavender.

I ended up duplicated the colour layer & alpha-locked it to colour it cyan. I transformed it slightly left & then set it to modulo shift.
