Foliage Test Scene

This scene was initially made to test out a stylised foliage workflow inspired by the likes of Wild Robot & Puss in Boots 2 hence the painterly look for the textures. The particle system was very fun & was completed to a satisfactory level in a handful of days, however, for a variety of reasons the renders never looked quite right.
Thus the project languished in my wips for about a year.
Older & wiser (& with an actual computer & not a single laptop) I finished the scene with some better textures & lighting that I think really makes the scene sing.

This was the state this scene was in for about a year. As you can see, it doesn't look very good & I didn't yet know how to fix it.
It languished in my wips until I could fix it.

This is the picture I used for the grass, as you can tell it's intentionally stylised in a painterly kind of way inspired by projects like Wild Robot & Puss in Boots 2.

This is the picture used for the clovers, I made multiple plants to give the scene more of that naturalistic biodiversity.

This is the drawing for the flower, this site gives png's a white background so it's gonna be a surprise.

I'm really proud of this so you can look at another one.

Once the objects for the particle system were set up I did some weight painting to control distribution.

One of the flaws of the scene was the marble structure of the column which was fixed with some UV editing & a different node set-up.

To add more depth to the image I also added a volume cube to the scene to push the contrast & give it a moodier look.

Finally, to give a more naturalistic look I used an image texture to create some dappled lighting indicative of a forested environment.
