As part of my studio unit with Liveworm I submitted designs for the Brisbane Festival's Social Sculptures exhibit on the 4th of October at fish lane. While my designs weren't selected I'm still proud of my work & the final designs are amazing, so I encourage all who can to come along.
Because the client requested a brand identity that was identifiable from a distance & at a low-lighting I decided to borrow the semiotics of emergency signage which have been iterated upon for decades to be maximally attention-grabbing & readable. Of course consideration was made to make the design distinct from actual emergency signage by using different semiotics, clear logo placement & different colour palettes. That being said, I did prepare the colour-test aesthetic as an alternative to what the brand image could look like if the client wanted to avoid any potential confusion.
I also think that because warning signage always features text it could give individual artists an opportunity to put their artists statement & piece name on the signage itself.
For assets I used an origami style of shading as it felt more playful & in line with the exhibits purpose.
